5k

Once again, there were a few victims who got lost when doing the Fachingslauf (5k time trial but clockwise), but eventually everybody made it to the finish line.

At minus 6 degrees, participants were singing a birthday song to the timer and therefore duly received a Krapfen after the run.

Before the event was started, we kept a minute of silence for two of our fellow-runners:
Ed Johnson died on 7th September unexpectedly of heart failure. He had been working for UNIDO and was one of the early members of the club.
Steve Edminster passed away peacefully on 9th September after longer illness. He has been the club's president for many years, and when he retired from that function he became our honorary president.
Ed and Steve: we will miss you.

Since there is nothing anymore to qualify for and due to the heat, it was decided to do a 5k time trial instead of the 10k Qualification Run. Looked like everybody appreciated it.

Christina, the initiator of this Faschings run - 5k clockwise - was on a ski trip, but everyone else managed to find the course even if it looks different from the other side. Fasching is over already, but we had Zorro and Mickey Mouse participating.

Due to heavy snowfall it was decided to slightly change the course staying on the cleaner main road, but thus we ended up with a distance of approx. 5120 m according to GPSs. Sorry if that made you miss a PR (Margaret, Jesse, Maxime ?) !
After the run, former VICRunner Peter Smith's famous "flapjacks" were distributed to participants.

Emil's report: It was cold, about -4, but hardly any wind. Light snow cover on the ground, thus, runners had to be careful not to slip, especially on sharp turns.

This was the last chance for the team captains to check out the shape of the participants for the upcoming Inter Agency Games in Bad Kleinkirchheim (this time exceptionally in autumn).
The leading duo did some extra-exercises during the race (intervals) while at the bottom of the list some of the ladies were lost on the track - sorry.

Different reports have been received about the incidents regarding timers and timing equipment in this race. The negative impact, however, was minor. Even if the times provided may not be accurate, the VICRunners secretariat abstains from the proposed measure to tar and feather the head timer.
