Just in time the heavy rains stopped, and even the fact that a small lake had to be crossed during today's mile race did not prevent 11 runners to set up new PRs ! Again there were more female than male milers - a very interesting development.
The fantastic weather conditions allowed nine PRs, 33 runners were precisely timed by the Schneider family. Amazing the PR improvements of Maria by almost 3 minutes and Tamas by almost 3.5 minutes. Note to the file: the doping samples of both athletes were negative. Fantastic duel between Ann and Beate: they now take ranks 16 resp. 17 in the 10k Top 100 list.
Have we ever had this ? In today's windy 1 mile run there were more female than male participants - a special pleasure for the timers Norbie, Christian & Adi.
A lonely victory for Jalil, some PRs (Beate & Steven) and some almost-PRs (Andrea & Tamas), five runners who did our 10k for the first time (Luz Marina, Gabi and Patricia; Stephen & Ivan Alfredo), some comebacks and some solid performances - a lot of information for the team captains who are trying do get their people together for the IAG 2002.
Not many dared to set a foot outside today at temperatures of -11C / 12F. However, ten VICRunners looked forward to the warm shower when doing the wintercourse (9.6 km on the icefree main road) timing themselves. The official timers Christian and Anil were sent back home after being promised to get the deserved 10 VICRunners Cup points nevertheless. Tamas gets 10 points as well for checking the course before the race.
The shivering timers Ursula (let's hope that she does not get a cold after this) and Adi saw a surprising high number of participants in this year's November 10k. Richard and Andrea improved their PRs, Ramachandran and Paul joined us for the first time, and ladies' 10k record holder Liz (40:04 !) took part again in a VICRunners event after a break of more than SEVEN years.
